ATTICA — Le Roy junior Zach Vanderhoof and senior Andrew Kettle spoiled the party Friday night as the Oatkan Knights shutout Attica 20-0 in Class C action Friday night at Alumni Stadium coming away with an impressive second straight shutout.
Le Roy took a little bit to get going and when they did the Knights looked very good in the trenches — a trademark for this le Roy program.
Seniorquarterback Alex Panepento got the Knights started on their second series when senior quarterback Alex Panepento hit senior Nate Andrews on a third and 12 play with a little swing pass that Andrews rumbled in for the touchdown and a 7-0 lead after Mitchel Hockey booted the PAT kick.
Sophomore Jack Tonzi scored on a short run up the middle to make it a 13-0 lead with just over seven minutes to go.
Le Roy got a nice long touchdown run up the middle by Panepento to finish off the first half scoring at 20-0.
The Le Roy defense was tough all night against the Attica double wing holding them to minimal yards in the first half.
Le Roy improved to 2-0 on the season as the Knights will take on Wellsville this coming Thursday at VanDetta Stadium.
Attica fell to 1-1 as the Blue Devils will visit Maple City Park in Hornell next week to play the Red Raiders (1-1).
Attica finally got things going in the second half, or at least they thought they did when QB Jake Dressel tossed a long pass to Drew Cusmano that put them inside the redzone but holding call on Attica would bring the ball way back.
