CALEDONIA — 24 up, 24 down.

Three to go.

Undefeated Pavilion (24-0) continued their amazing season Thursday night with the victory over Class D3 champion Fillmore 25-12, 25-18, and 25-14 to advance to NYS quarterfinals Saturday.

Pavilion, the Class D2 champions, have swept all 24 opponents this season.

Fillmore advanced to the finals of the ‘D’ state qualifier after beating Alexander in four games Tuesday.

Thursday night belonged solely to the Lady Gophers who are now 72-0 in total sets.

Dynamic junior duo Lauren Kingsley and Karlee Zinkievich each had their usual standout games as Kingsley had 12 kills with 5 digs and 3 aces while Zinkievich added 6 service aces and 4 kills.

Senior Shannon Campbell had 18 assists long with 3 digs and 2 blocks while classmate Adeline Milligan had 4 kills.

After winning the first set easily, Pavilion would fall behind in the second set but rallied to take an 18-16 lead then closed Fillmore out with a 7-2 run to win it.

In the third set, Fillmore led 4-0 and then went up 10-4 before Pavilion closed out the set and match with a 21-4 run sparked by some clutch serves by Adeline Milligan, Paige Landers, and Sara Laurie who got Pavilion to 22 points. After a side out, Zinkievich got the final two points including an ace.

“Fillmore played very well,” Pavilion head coach Rex Eighmey said. “It was another great match.”

Pavilion advances to the NYS regional tourney where they will face Section VI Class D champion Chautauqua Lake at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

“I watched their finals against Randolph,” coach Eighmey, said of his next opponent. “From what I saw they are athletic and skilled. They play what you call middle back up on defense, which we don’t see. The libero is very good and covers that up. They mix their offense up sometimes changing setters during a rally. We will need to attack them. We are working on a game plan.. I can picture a very competitive match. Section VI always seems to have strong teams.”
