OAKFIELD — The Oakfield-Alabama/Elba boys cross country team certainly put together an impressive performance last weekend in the Genesee Region/LCAA Division II Championship at their home course.

O-A/E finished with the top runner and six runners in the Top 10 overall as it showed its might.

O-A/E’s Zack Hall was the winner with a time of 17:02, followed by Pembroke’s Sebastian Kitt in second with a time of 17:46 and O-A/E’s Connor Domoy rounding out the top three in 18:21.

Also in the top five, Warsaw’s Mitchel Felix was fourth in 18:58 and Byron-Bergen’s Lincoln McGrath was right behind in fifth in 18:58.6.

O-A/Elba then had the next four runners in Kyle Porter (19:13), Jordan Schlagenhauf (19:16), Colton Yasses (19:19) and Logan Clark (19:33).

Byron-Bergen’s Josh Fleming finished in 10th with a time of 19:55, while Holley’s top runner was Dylan Clemens, who finished in 15th with a time of 20:45.


Oakfield-Alabama/Elba also had three of the top six Division II runners in the girls race, including the top two in Fanny Venegas and McKenna Johnson.

Venegas took first with a time of 22:06, while Johnson wasn’t far behind in second with a time of 22:50.

Rounding out the top five, Alexander’s Laurel Kania was third (22:50), Pembroke’s Leah Filter was fourth (23:12) and Holley’s Adriana Botello was fifth (23:19).

In sixth, O-A/E’s Brooke Kennedy ran a 23:28, while Byron-Bergen finished with three of the next four runners — Julia Schlenker-Stephens (seventh, 23;31), Stephanie Onderdonk (eighth, 23:56) and Alaura Rehwaldt (10th, 24:22).

Pembroke’s Ainsley Czechowicz took ninth with a time of 24:04.
