WYOMING — Chalk it up to another long list of COVID-19 disappointments.
This year’s AppleUmpkin Festival has joined the long list of canceled events. Its organizers announced the decision on its Facebook page.
“We held out as long as we could,” a festival representative said in response to a reader’s comment. “Unfortunately we are just in a situation with all of the state restrictions on gathering sizes and recent changes to enforcement of social distancing/mask wearing that make it impossible for us to acquire the permits we require to hold the event this year. We are hoping that next year will bring a much better environment allowing events to return to normal.”
AppleUmpkin would have marked 34 years this year. The event was a significant regional attraction which attracted thousands from Western New York to the village.
AppleUmpkin typically offers a mix of crafts, food and music amid the village’s vintage gaslights, picturesque buildings and autumn scenery.
