BATAVIA — A developers plan to open a Chipotle Mexican Grill at Towne Center on Veterans Memorial Drive, where Metro Mattress used to be, goes before the Genesee County Planning Board Thursday.

COR Veterans Memorial Drive Company LLC is seeking a special use permit to add a drive-thru to the building at 4187 Veterans Memorial Dr. The board will meet at 7 p.m. via Zoom video conference.

The county Planning Board may recommend approval of the permit.

“The proposed drive-thru restaurant should pose no significant county-wide or inter-community impact,” according to Planning Board meeting materials. There would be renovations to the building to accommodate Chipotle. In addition to the drive-thru, there would be outdoor seating.

On Tuesday night, Building Inspector Daniel Lang, gave the zoning enforcement officer report during the town of Batavia Planning Board meeting and said of the plans for a Chipotle, “The design, realistically, from what we’ve seen so far, is acceptable and everything looks good. We’ve got more review to do in-depth on the engineering side of that and they’ve got some grease traps that we have to get sized appropriately.”
