“The digital subscription platform works in tandem with the current print edition to create a collection of unique and complimentary elements,” said Gary Durawa, circulation director of Batavia Newspaper Corp., which publishes The Daily News in Batavia and The Livingston County News in Geneseo.
Print editions of both papers will continue to be published on their current schedules. Subscribers of The Daily News and The Livingston County News will have free access to the website of the paper to which they subscribe. Others will be able to purchase a separate digital subscription.
Digital subscriptions to the websites will be available for $9.99 a month
A print subscription, which includes online access, is the best value for readers, said Durawa, as it provides 24/7 access to the website, the award-winning local content and photographs in the print edition, along with the print paper’s sales inserts and special sections.
Signing-up for a digital subscription is a two-step process. First, new digital subscribers will need to sign up for a website user account and verify their email address after a confirmation email is sent to them. The second step is to add a paid subscription to their user account.
Current print subscribers will have access to the website, but they will need to sign up for a free user account on the website. The user must have an email address on file for their print subscription and use that same email address to sign up for a website user account. The website checks our circulation management system in real time to compare the email address and generates the subscription.
Regardless of which subscription type users have they will need to be signed into their website account when visiting thedailynewsonline.com or thelcn.com. If users are not signed in, the website can’t identify them as a subscriber.
Non-subscribers will have access to a limited number of articles and then be asked to sign up for a subscription, which grants full access for $9.99 a month.
