Batavia man indicted for attempted murder

A Genesee County grand jury has indicted a Batavia man accused of trying to stab another person to death in August.

Jamie A. Dutton, 28, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He is accused of stabbing a person while outside the Water Treatment Plant on Lehigh Avenue on Aug. 25. The victim sustained serious injuries and has not been publicly identified by police.

Dutton also faces a felony indictment in Orleans County.

He was indicted in October and arraigned on charges of first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and aggravated criminal contempt of court. He is accused of entering a person’s house in violation of an order of protection and causing serious injuries to that person.

He remains in jail pending further court appearances.
