WARSAW — At Warsaw Park families gathered for the first Here Comes the Sun event.

The event was put together by the Partners for Prevention as a free “trunk or treat”-inspired walk filled with treats, activities and prizes, from more than 20 Wyoming County organizations.

“We are promoting drug and alcohol free community events where kids and families can learn about what is in the community to help them better for outreach if they need things,” said Amanda Myers, prevention specialist for Partners for Prevention, as she offered children a choice between sunglasses or a water bottle as their parents signed their families in. “That their community is behind them to be drug and alcohol free, and to have a good time where that stuff is not needed.”

The idea was taken from the Halloween trunk-or-treat, and all the community organizations which came to the park on Saturday decorated their truck. Myers truck was decorated with “Here Comes the Sun” after the event, and had a pool and beach type theme with pool noodles, floaties and umbrella.

Myers said she’s really excited to have the support and people showing up.
