BATAVIA — Label Shopper, a new clothing store in BJ’s Plaza on Lewiston Road, hosted a grand opening ribbon cutting on Saturday afternoon.

The store at 8326 Lewiston Rd. opened three weeks ago.

The store sells name brand clothes at a discount by buying surplus from department stores and clothing from previous seasons. It has clothing in misses, juniors, plus, men’s and kids sizes, and shoes.

“I think everyone is pretty happy,” said Brian Greer, manager. “I haven’t had any customers complain about the quality or the prices or anything like that. I think everyone is very happy.”

The store is inside the plaza’s former Sears location, and underwent a complete remodel before opening as Label Shopper.

Prior to opening in Batavia, the nearest Label Shopper store to Batavia was in Dunkirk. The company, a subsidiary of Peter Harris Clothes, had previously had a location in Warsaw before it closed a couple of years ago.

Peter Harris Clothes, the parent company of Label Shopper and its sister store, Peter Harris Clothes, owns 70 stores total. Most of them are Label Shoppers. The company is based in Latham, Albany County. Company President Peter Elitzer founded Peter Harris Clothes in 1970.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
