BATAVIA — LandPro Equipment LLC, project officials and local representatives couldn’t wait to dig in, literally, as the company formally kicked off a $10 million agriculture, turf, commercial and compact construction equipment facility on West Saile Drive.
The gathering Monday was for a groundbreaking, with the expected completion of the project in 2022. The 50,000-square-foot facility will serve customers’ sales, parts, service and precision farming needs, LandPro, a John Deere dealer says. It plans to employee 60 people. The facility will be built by Thompson Builds of Churchville.
“We chose Batavia as our location so we could better serve our customers throughout Western New York. We plan to merge a few of our current locations in the area into the new Batavia location to provide a better customer experience and to provide a significantly improved working facility for our employees,” the company said.
“We’re in Batavia for a reason and Genesee County for a reason,” President and CEO Tracy Buck said Monday. “Very business-friendly community that we really appreciate.” Buck said LandPro has nothing without its employees.
“As you all know, there’s a big need for qualified employees and we appreciate everybody’s effort, starting at a younger level — a high school level, educating students at what their opportunities can be in this field,” he said. “We have some great opportunities, high-paying jobs available, advancement opportunities.”
“We’re all in and we’re partners with you,” Buck said. “We look forward to seeing some dirt being moved here pretty soon.”
Buck said the project has a tentative completion date of November 2022.
Genesee County Economic Development Center President and CEO Steve Hyde said. “We’re thrilled. We’re almost at 400,000 square feet of new build in 16 years, over 400 people working here.” He told LandPro it continues that sign of excellence.
“We just want to thank you very much for your continued investment in Genesee County and right here in the town of Batavia,” he said.
