Man shot at Day’s Inn

Brian Quinn/Daily News Police cars are seen outside Days Inn, 200 Oak St., Batavia, late Wednesday night after responding to a reported shooting incident. One man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after being shot, according to State Police at the scene.

BATAVIA – Police are investigating a shooting that occurred late Wednesday night and brought a large police presence to Days Inn, 200 Oak St.

City Police Chief Shawn Heubusch said the man was shot before he walked in to the hotel.

The man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, and was expected to survive, according to state police.

Police were looking for a suspect vehicle and as 10:30 p.m. approached were expanding the perimeter at the scene.

During a media briefing at the scene Heubusch declined to comment on a possible suspect or the suspect vehicle.

Police were called to the scene about 9:40 p.m.

Two Mercy EMS ambulances were seen at the scene, along with deputies from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, and officers from city and state police.

Police were seen talking to a group of people in the Days Inn parking lot. It was not known who the people were.
