LE ROY — They’re charming in nature, but precautions need to be taken if one becomes your neighbor.
A black bear decided to take up residency Saturday in the village, Le Roy police said.
“There were several sightings in the area of Robbins Road and Madison Avenue of our newest resident,” police said in a Facebook post. “We have spoken to the DEC and they will not relocate the bear at this time.”
In order to prevent any conflicts, police are recommending that people keep their garbage secured; remove and bird feeders and bird seed; and not to approach the bear if they see it.
“If the bear is not creating a nuisance, you don’t need to report your sighting,” police said.
