SCOTTSVILLE — At Stokoe Farms, 656 S. Rd., in Scottsville, New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball knelt down to the stump of a 9-foot-tall Fraser fir to cut it down and help deliver it to the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva.

The goal was not only to showcase the tree but to help promote all that New York state has to offer, Ball said.
