One dead, two injured in Bergen crash

UPDATE, 2:15 a.m. A 25-year-old Oakfield man was killed and two others injured after a car crashed into a utility pole on Townline Road Monday evening, the same stretch of road that saw a pedestrian killed earlier in the day.

Elijah R. Coombs was driving a blue 2005 Chevrolet Impala westbound just after 7 p.m. in the area of 7860 Townline Road (Route 262) when it left its lane of travel, crossing the center line and continuing off the south shoulder of the road. The Impala then struck a utility pole on the driver’s side, causing the vehicle to spin 180 degrees before coming to a rest, according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.

Coombs, one of three occupants in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jamie R. Bachorski, 26, of Oakfield, a front seat passenger, was transported via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, for serious injuries.

Samantha J. Wade, 21, of Byron, was transported via ambulance to Strong Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Bergen Fire Department crews had to free the victims from the wreckage.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported to the Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center at 7:11 p.m.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Bergen Fire Department, Byron Fire Department, Mercy EMS and State Police.

Earlier Monday, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Townline Road, just east of South Lake Road. The incident occurred just before noon. State police are investigating that crash and have released no information.

BERGEN - One person was killed and two others were injured when a car smashed into a utility pole on Townline Road late Monday afternoon, the same stretch of road that saw a pedestrian killed earlier in the day.

Genesee County sheriff’s deputies were called to Townline Road and Buffalo Street Extension about 7:15 p.m.

Chief Deputy Brian Frieday said one person was killed and two others were injured and taken by Mercy Flight to a hospital.
